"What The Hell Happened"

What the hell happened to Uncle Sam's Navy anyway? People stabbing each other in the back for promotion looking behind for their turn or lying so they can get a damn worthless medal pinned on their chest. How would Nimitz, Halsey or Arleigh Burke perceive this diplomatic bull malarkey we see in today's Navy?

I mean the fact that we had to court martial a couple of hard working dedicated red blooded American Seals over rather or not they were being too gaudamn rough on a couple of Al Queda prisoners is beyond me... just glad they were acquitted! Hell, I just saw a picture the other day of a Japanese P.O.W. on the forecastle of the Missouri back in the day butt naked and deloused in front of the whole gaudamn crew for show. But you didn't see any cry'n liberals bitch'n and complain'n back then! Hell, it was encouraged... after all the son-of-a-bitch was trying to kill us just days before!

This kinder, gentler, bullshit Navy is really pissin' me off. And now that I'm retired I suppose I don't have to worry about gett'n Court martial'd for say'n it. I had noticed over the years that it used to be a Chief was able to stand up for his people! That was one of the most poignant messages that stood out in my charge book when I was initiated into the mess! But now too gaudamn many are afraid to stand up for anyone because it would be "political suicide". Everybody is turn'n into yes men! I hope none of the fellas that wore their crackerjacks under me ever felt that way. If they did, then my apologies!

Hell, when I was a young piss ant, we use to watch porno movies in the crew's mess and hang playboy centerfolds in our berthing lockers. We use to have towel fights of epic proportions in the berthing compartments... ol' Bierly knows exactly what I'm talk'n about!!! I'm not talk'n about any panzy ass terry cloth flipping love tapp'n neither. We were men in a man's Navy and this was part of the camaraderie that held us together like super glue! Hell, as soon as I came aboard my first ship,

"Son, welcome aboard! Give your orders to the titless wave in personnel! Then stow your shit in your berthing locker an head topside so we can put your ripe ass to work!"

Now that's how I expected to be spoken too, and my feelings were never hurt! Once introduced to the fellas of 2nd Division,

"Do you Gunners and FCs' take this self-professed jerk-off to love & honor, to put knots on his head, grease up the gears, to do your petty errands, take all the shit jobs, Clean shitters… pissers... & underway sea sick vomit, and be little Miss piss ant gopher and low man on the totem pole whore for every sadistic son-of-a-bitch call'n himself a salty dog?"

But it's pretty gaudamn obvious times have changed. Hell, I remember a certain officer I recently worked for would put her index finger on her nose every gaudamn time I tried to speak my mind at a POA&M or Intel meeting. I even specifically remember a skipper who told me that I wasn't endearing myself any closer to him by speaking my mind so blatantly. Well, I say, "piss on em!" As far as I'm concerned we need to eliminate about 65% of those gaudamn liberally infected whackjobs running things right now and replace them with khakis who are willing to lead and not be a bunch of gaudamn 'yes' men!

I suppose what's happening to today's Navy is a sign of what the hell is going wrong in America. All the gaudamn piss ant liberal Americans out their living off the coat tails of mediocrity. Every gaudamn snot nosed son-of-a-bitch gets a damn trophy regardless of merit. We don't want winners cause that means there's losers! That means somebody's feelings are gonna get hurt and for some gaudamn reason, we just can't have that! So in the end we don't truly appreciate the sense of winning & losing and right from wrong.

Hopefully the best thing we ever did was put the present-day clown in office so that Americans could get a true dose of reality, wake up and see how bad it can really get. Maybe then we can finally get our shit together! We need to retake this country from its current course of doom and start setting things right. If we don't, we'll be living in a socialist society with big brother at every corner tell'n us how many times a day we're allowed to wipe our ass and pick our nose!

  1. EM2/SS Kavanagh USS Whale (SSN 638) (that's the good part for you) Liberal who believes that we are too great a country to resort to torture. In Korea, our MASH units worked on our soldiers as well as enemy soldiers. The did become Prisoners of War, but we treated them like humans. The enemy did not. The US should be about being the greater man, not falling to the levels that we have been fighting against in the world wars, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq I. We lose our right to stand as the shining light of freedom when we torture our enemies. I'm a liberal. I do think some pc has gone to far. Raising kids who don't understand winning and losing make for poor recruits. But the idea of being respectful of the mayriad of cultures that reside in our "Best Country" in the world is achieved when everyone holds their neighbor dear despite their differences. The Buddhist would gladly live alongside the Christian. But too often, the Christian will not live alongside the Buddhist. We do have to open our military to those diverse cultures and find ways to respect one another as shipmates. Blacks and Whites used to be put in seperate groups in the military. On my boat, I had me (white), black shipmates, Filipino shipmates, Christian shipmates, Jewish Shipmates, and we all worked together to achieve the mission. The Traditions of the Navy need to remain, there should always be a wog day, but we have to adjust those days to be inclusive of everyone on board. Wog Day builds a better sailor, just like 1-5 day built a brand new recruit. Yes, there are many things that have changed from the time i was in, some I do not like, many that I do. I don't like the stress card at boot camp. I do like that if my shipmate believes his Wiccan religion to be his path to spirituality, he can have a Wiccan symbol on his tombstone. A wiccan next to you is less an wiccan and more a shipmate when the boat is operating under war time conditions. I would have no problem serving with a gay sailor. I'm sure I did. Letting them be themselves only allows them to further flower (no pun intended) into a sailor. I have a gay best friend now. I've been with him and a lot of his gay friends. Sometimes, ones I haven't met before hit on me. I say "Thanks for the compiment, but I'm straight" and they leave it at that. Gay men are not going to force gay sex on heterosexuals. Loose the fear. Keep the traditions, keep the Dixie Cup (rolled edges only after you have been to sea), keep wog day, keep chiefs initiation, but make them all inclusive and respectful of the individual going through it. The main point I'm trying to make is that I was a sailor, will always be a sailor in my heart, and I'm liberal. We aren't all out to change everything. Most of us just want "the poorest of these" to have a seat at the table.
